For many years we have explored the use of virtual reality technology as a tool for designing stage scenery and lighting. This is not limited to those productions that used VR as the main scenographic medium but includes shows using more traditional stagecraft. Often the design process relies on computer models and the resulting renderings, but it can also include animated video clips and full-fledged VR simulations that collaborators can operate on their own computers.
The models on this page are located on Sketchfab. Sketchfab is a great place to keep 3D assets to be showcased or shared with collaborators. Models can remain private or be published to the world.
Open any set and you can spin it around in the 3D viewport. Go on ... You know you want to...
Complete viewer instructions are at the bottom of the page.
You can also switch to "VR Mode" and walk around like a member of the cast. VR headsets work great with these models. If you have one, go get it... It's OK we'll wait.
You can navigate in Orbit Mode or First Person Mode.
Orbit Mode (default): Rotate the view around a fixed focus point
First Person: Walk through the space and look around
Click Settings in the bottom-right corner of the Sketchfab viewer to see the available Navigation options for the model.
